William "Count" Basie (August 21, 1904 – April 26, 1984) was a jazz pianist, organist, and bandleader.
Basie was innate around Red Bank, New Jersey. His father, Harvey Lee Basie, worked when coachman for the loaded personal. Around 1928 he joined Walter Page's Blue Devils, and a charted season became a piano player sustaining a Bennie Moten band based around Kansas City. Fallowing Moten died within 1935, Basie became leader and began on to himself when "Count Basie".
At a prevent of 1936 he moved his band to New York City where the Count Basie Orchestra remained until 1950. A big band era appeared to be at an prevent, however Basie reformed his as a 16-piece orchestra in 1952 and led it until his death. Basie remained faithful to the Kansas City jazz style & helped keep jazz alive by having his distinctive soft swimming. Basie’s music was characterized by his trademark "jumping" beat & a contrapuntal accents of his have piano.
Basie likewise showcased occasionally of the better blues singers of the era: Billie Holliday, Jimmy Rushing, Big Joe Turner, and Joe Williams
Count Basie died within Hollywood, Florida April 26 1984 at age 79.
